Transferring money to a prisoner

You can electronically transfer money to a prisoner held in a Queensland correctional centre with the Secure payment service. There are costs associated with this service.

You can also send money to a prisoner by giving their correctional centre:

  • cash—in person
  • money orders—in person or by post.

For safety and security purposes, we cannot accept cash payments for prisoners by normal or privileged mail.

Signing up

You can sign up online. You will need to provide:

  • 2 forms of identification (ID) with your name and street address (PO Boxes are not accepted)
  • the prisoner’s name, correctional centre and IOMS number.

Learn how to find a prisoner in a correctional centre.

To get their IOMS number, email StatewideOperationsCommunications@corrections.qld.gov.au with their full name and date of birth.

Once your account is created, you’ll get a confirmation email with a security code. Use the security code to finish setting up your account.

Transferring money

To transfer money, log in to your account. You can use your credit card or debit card.

Money will be electronically sent to the correctional centre the next business day. It will be allocated to the prisoner’s account.

You’ll see a ‘Transferred to the prison’ message on your account when the centre receives the payment.
